Police were busy this past weekend issuing tickets to numerous allegedly impaired drivers in the North Okanagan.

Officers issued 11 alcohol-related driving prohibitions to motorists under the Motor Vehicle Act, eight of whom were served 90-day alcohol related driving prohibitions and 30-day vehicle impounds while three were issued lesser alcohol related prohibitions, according to the RCMP's press release.

The incidents were reported between noon, Friday Nov. 26 and Monday, Nov. 29 at 4 a.m., RCMP said.

"Impaired driving continues to be a concern on our roads," said Const. Chris Terleski, media relations officers with the detachment, in the press release.

"The consequences of impaired driving can be deadly. Whether by alcohol or drug, if you choose to drive while impaired, you are not only putting yourself at risk, but others as well."

The RCMP is asking residents to call 9-1-1 if they suspect a driver may be impaired and to note the following information, as it will assist police officers in their response:

  • license plate number
  • make and model of the vehicle
  • description of the driver
  • location of the vehicle and direction of travel
