11 candidates running for vacant council position in Vernon byelection

Eleven candidates will be vying for votes in the City of Vernon's upcoming byelection.

Nomination packages were accepted by the City until 4 p.m. today, Oct. 29, for the byelection that will take Dec. 4. 

The seat at the council table was left vacant following the death of councillor Dalvir Nahal.

The list of people running are: Kevin Demers, Teresa Durning, Flora Evans, Sherrilee Franks, Arthur Gourley, Stephanie Hendy, Catherine Lord, Jamie Morrow, Erik Olesen, Ed Stranks and Andy Wylie.

Advanced voting takes place Nov. 24, 25 and 27, as well Dec. 1 and 2. ahead of the Dec. 4 byelection.

The elected councillor will serve on Vernon City Council until the next local election in October 2022.
