Some hot and fun things are happening around the Thompson-Okanagan this weekend. Try checking out something new in a different community.

PENTICTON

Events are heating up this weekend in Penticton.

Township 7’s Annual Father’s Day luncheon with Roch Lobster Catering is back Sunday, June 16.

Treat Dad to an al fresco lobster luncheon served family style in the vineyard, paired with delicious award winning wines.

There will be a vegetarian option available and festive live music all afternoon.

Tickets include fresh Atlantic lobster, side dishes and a glass of wine. Children’s meals are smaller portion size and glass of juice. Cost is $49 per adult plus applicable tax and gratuities and $29 per child plus applicable tax and gratuities. Seating is at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are required. Join the celebration at Skaha Lake Park Ball Courts from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 16, for Family Fun on Father's Day. This free event by donation, is going to be another great event featuring The Artisan Pools dunk tank and bouncy castle, children's pirate games and crafts, community barbecue (by donation), family road hockey game, music and dance community market, face painting and moustache tattoos and so much more.

The 21st Annual Father’s Day Walk/Run returns to Rhapsody Plaza at Waterfront Plaza in Kelowna Sunday, June 16 at 10 a.m.

Prostate Cancer Foundation BC holds their annual Father’s Day Walk Run to create awareness and fundraise to support prostate cancer research here in BC. This year the run will be held in four cities across the province; Burnaby, Chilliwack, Kamloops and Kelowna. Participants of all ages have the option of a 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km run in all four cities. Come join in on this fun family Father's Day event and help support BC men fighting prostate cancer. Come laugh out loud Friday, June 14 with the Kelowna Arts Council Comedy Fest at Dakota's Lounge.

This year's festival will feature four of Canada's top headliners along with the very best comedians from the Kelowna Comedy scene. Each show will be entirely different. You need to check them all out.

Friday's headliner at 7 p.m. is Levi McCachen, one of the fastest rising comics in the Vancouver Comedy Scene, who has performed at Just For Laughs NorthWest, the Pemberton Music Festival, and is the winner of the CFOX Comedy Competition. He’s opened for the BBC's Russell Howard, Saturday Night Live’s Alex Moffat and Harland Williams. His material spans from the perils of modern dating, to generational differences. Whatever the topic Levi's unique perspective always leaves the audience laughing.

VERNON

Join in on the 25th Annual Father's Day Car Show in the Village Green Shopping Centre parking lot Sunday, June 16. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Cars must remained parked until 2 p.m. Admittance is by donation. Proceeds go to support local automotive education. Bring your father out for an afternoon of fun, and some great classic cars. There will be music and awards. The event is sponsored by the North Okanagan Chapter of the Vintage Car Club of Canada.

The Sun is shining brightly with the 25th Annual Downtown Vernon Sunshine Festival. Come together and celebrate the start of summer with one of Vernon's most iconic events. The 25th Annual Sunshine Festival presented by VantageOne Credit Union is free and takes place Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as six city blocks along 30 Avenue are transformed into a vehicle-free playground for over 15,000 children and adults to enjoy. This is no bull. The 10th Annual Professional Bull Riding competition descends on the Armstrong Fair Grounds, Saturday, June 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Featuring the ladies of the WNPBR, gates will open at 3 p.m. with the show beginning at 5 p.m. There will be tasty food and a 19+ beverage garden.

KAMLOOPS

A one of a kind obstacle course based fun run is at Sun Peaks, Saturday, June 15.

The 5 km Foam Fest includes 22 obstacles including the world’s largest inflatable waterslide, mud and 2.5 million cubic feet of foam. You can rock out all day to 12,000 watts of music, enjoy a free kids zone for kids seven and under, delicious food, great vendors and beverage garden. With a variety of obstacles and a ton of foam, the run is an exciting challenge for experience and beginner runners.

Dip your fishing rod into Walloper Lake during the Father’s Day Fishout. The Kamloops and District Fish and Game Association invites all kids and dads and their families to join in on the day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Boats, fishing rods, bait and everything else you will need to enjoy some time on the lake fishing for trout will be provided.

There is even a free lunch of burgers and hot dogs.
