  • Local nurses promote water safety

    Parachute's Safe Kids Week is a national public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness about the frequency and severity of preventable childhood injuries. This year Safe Kids Week, June 7-14,  focuses on water safety and drowning prevention. Drowning is the second leading cause of injury related deaths for Canadian children.
  • Help prevent the nuisance of mosquitoes

    Warmer temperatures may result in an increase in hatching mosquitoes in the Central Okanagan.

    While crews have been out since early April monitoring and treating almost 200 known breeding locations for mosquito larvae, residents can also play a part in reducing the likelihood of hatches in and around their properties.

  • Minimal disruption for all during Kelowna Family YMCA renovations

    During a 10 month renovation to the Kelowna Family YMCA aquatic change rooms starting January 6th, 2014, disruption to members and the public will be minimal.

    “Serving families is a priority and the YMCA is investing in creating temporary change cubicles for families and special needs during this time” says Karlene Sewell, GM Kelowna Family YMCA.
  • Metro Vancouver donation flows straight to Okanagan College

    Students enrolled in the Water Engineering Technology (WET) diploma program will be benefitting this fall from some well-placed connections.

    The College is in the process of incorporating used equipment donated by Metro Vancouver for use in various classes involving wastewater treatment and chlorination in the two-year program.
