    Happy holidays from the City of West Kelowna.

    Our administrative offices will be closed Christmas Day through New Year’s Day, but emergency and essential services will be provided during this time. Those offices that will be closed are:

  • Parking ticket drop boxes being removed from downtown

    City Council has approved the removal of all parking ticket drop boxes from the downtown core during the first week of May. Use of these boxes has dropped significantly in the last few years and it is no longer financially reasonable to maintain this method of payment.
  • Volunteers tackle backwoods mess for community clean up

    This weekend marks the kick off to Community Clean-Up Month-- and to mark the occasion a crew of enthusiastic volunteers will head to a popular recreation corridor to clean up garbage-- left behind by a careless few. And they’re challenging you to do the same—to take even a small portion of your day to do a clean-up in your own neighborhood.

    The clean-up kickoff event is an annual one, organized in a new locale each year by the Regional District Waste Reduction office.
  • West Kelowna City Council meeting highlights

    Canada 150 Flags Presentation
    Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola MP Dan Albas presented flags to be flown at city facilities in recognition of Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation, which will be officially celebrated July 1, 2017. City staff has also requested to use the Canada 150 logo for decorative banners on Boucherie Road Wine Trail and Westbank Centre.

    Council took part in a workshop to review the effectiveness of secondary suite and carriage house regulations in the community, and provided direction on key decision points. Council first implemented secondary suite regulations in 2010 and allowed carriage homes beginning in 2015.

    KELOWNA - Do you want to know the secret formula to stop bullying? Kindness, says Dr. John Tyler Binfet, is the key. This Pink Shirt Day, the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club is asking the city of Kelowna to embrace a kind(er) stance to the anti-bullying initiative.
  • Director, scholar, Min Sook Lee visits UBC to present film work

    Min Sook, a ground-breaking artist and Canadian filmmaker, will be a visiting scholar—meeting and working with students and professors in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. She has a diverse and prolific portfolio of multimedia work and films and an interdisciplinary background in labour, border politics, documentary film/video, art, and social change.
