Event Description

This fundraiser is held to raise funds for Foundry Kelowna, operated by the Canadian Mental Health Association Kelowna, which is a free integrated youth and family clinic that addresses the primary care, mental health, substance use, counselling, and social service need of youth ages 12-24 and their families.
Each year, students, staff, and the community are invited to participate in the MBSS Walk for Mental Health to generate awareness for mental health resources located in the community. Over the past two years, the event has raised $20,245 for youth mental health and seen over 2,400 participants each year.
This year, the MBSS Walk for Mental Health hopes to raise $15,000 for Foundry Kelowna, through community donations and t-shirt sales. Donations can be made by visiting https://cmhakelowna.crowdchange.ca/92574.
Through the support of the MBSS Walk for Mental Health sponsors: Alpine Helicopters, A&W West Kelowna, PURKIDS Foundation, Rotary Daybreak Club, Okanagan Fire Protection, and Urban Systems, all funds raised, and profits of t-shirt sales will go directly to Foundry Kelowna.
The full-day event offers a guest presentation in the morning, a 5km walk through the surrounding neighborhoods, and activities on the field.
This year, Mount Boucherie welcomes former NHL goalie Corey Hirsch to speak about his struggles with mental health while playing professional hockey. His talk, along with the 5km walk, are split into two waves taking place at 9:20 A.M. and 10:30 A.M.
Activities on the field take place from 11:00am to 3:00pm and include:
