Event Description

The boys are back in Revelstoke for another night of awesome music, stage antics and one hell of a party! Join Illvis Freshly and Mt.Doyle at Traverse for a good ol' fashioned party on December 13th! 19+, 10pm- 2am. ***ILLVIS FRESHLY*** Illvis Freshly is an up and coming Canadian band from Victoria, BC. The band consists of two emcees, a live guitarist, a live drummer, and a DJ / singer. Their sound is a fusion of live, electronic, and classic hip hop elements, making them a unique and widely accessible act. Jesus Estevez (Doc Zoo) produces the beats, using a combination of synthesizers, live instrumentation, and the classic funk and soul samples quintessential to 90s hip-hop. The newest addition to the band, drummer Mike Cooper, is a karate master; his Bruce Lee level nun chuck skills are matched only by his super human drumming abilities and infectious live energy. Guitar wizard and crowd surfing aficionado Phil Lyons (Phillionaire) is a wildly entertaining performer; he is also well known for his ludicrously catchy riffs and face melting solos. Doc Zoo and Dan Howse (Danimal House), the two MCs, are all about live energy and stage presence, captivating the crowd with lightning fast flows and dynamic lyricism. In addition to spinning beats and scratching, Justin Doyle (DJ Mt. Doyle), has the voice of an angel, singing falsetto leads and backup vocals while holding it down on the turntables. In an industry where it has become increasingly difficult to be original, the boys have created something special with this project. Their sound can best be described as, Beastie Boys meets Jurassic 5, with some bass heavy flavor in the mix. The boys released their third album, the ’Certified Fresh’ EP, in the Spring of 2018, and show no signs of slowing down. They released 2 full length albums, “What Chu Know About Illvis?” (2015) and, ‘Illennials’ (2016) a year apart, as well as a string of wildly entertaining music videos and collaborations with international producers. Those albums consecutively won them Best Urban / Electronic Recording for the respective singles, and Group of The Year at the VIMAs for 2016/17. Their albums and numerous remixes have received local and international attention in the world-wide hip hop, funk, and electronic scenes, establishing them as one of the most progressive, accessible, and fun acts in Canadian Hip Hop. Illvis Freshly is, “one of those bands you have to see live”. They have had the opportunity to bring their feel good party vibes to a number of amazing festivals including: Shambhala, Rifflandia, Astral Harvest, Electric Love, Fozzyfest, Boogaloo, Kamp Festival, High Times Cannabis Cup, Quadrapalooza, Victoria Ska and Reggae Festival, and, Tall Tree Music Festival (to name a few). They have played countless shows across the West Coast of Canada and have begun to branch out into international markets. They have had the honor of sharing the stage with some of their mentors such as: Souls of Mischief, Ghostface Killah, Merkules, De La Soul, The Beatnuts, Stylust Beats, DubFX, and Grieves. A new addition to their live show is the formation of, ‘IllvisFreshly LIVE’, a full band show featuring bass guitar, keys, horns, and a second guitarist. The full live band made it’s grand debut in the summer of 2018 and will be playing select shows across the West Coast of Canada. In conclusion, to sum it up, the boys are here to play some dope music, eat pizza, and have a good time... and they are most definitely succeeding at all three. ***MT.DOYLE*** In the beginning Mt. Doyle was known for his smooth taste in Drum & Bass, and his unmatched love for pizza. But it wasn't long before Doyle expanded his horizons to include Funk, House, Hip-Hop and Bass, all with his soulful West Coast flavour. He quickly became a staple in the BC electronic music scene, known not only for his multi-genre sets but his range of recorded mixes as well. Over the past 8 years Mt. Doyle has played lounges, clubs and festivals all over the North West. He’s held residency at Victoria’s Roof Top Surf Club, played at Vancouver’s famous Commodore Ballroom and rocked many festivals including Shambhala, Rifflandia, Electric Love, Fozzy Fest, Boogaloo, Ska Fest, Sun Fest and The Tall Tree Festival. In that time he’s shared the stage with international heavyweights Aphrodite, Serial Killaz, K+Lab, Stickybuds, The Funk Hunters, Chali 2na, JFB, Dub FX, Rusko, Technimatic, Netsky, Camo & Krooked and Andy C, not to mention many of the west coast’s finest. In 2016 Mt. Doyle started The Hydration Mix Series, a monthly Liquid Drum & Bass podcast with DJs Sinisthetix, Willisist, Erski, Reflektor and DJ Surgeon. Later that year Doyle took on a whole new style as he joined the ranks of Illvis Freshly, a Victoria based Hip-Hop band with live rock elements, heavy bass and a healthy dose of funky turntablism. In 2018 Illvis Freshly released their 3rd album "Certified Fresh" where Mt. Doyle made his debut as a vocalist. Over the years Mt. Doyle has established himself as one of the most versatile DJs on Vancouver Island. With a mountainous lust for music and style that keeps you guessing, Mt. Doyle will keep bodies moving any time, any place, with whatever the hell he wants.
