Event Description

The highly anticipated Flower Power Garden Tour is back and in full bloom on Saturday, June 14, inviting garden lovers and those just starting to dig in the dirt to explore eight stunning private gardens throughout Kelowna. From sprawling rural landscapes to edible oases tucked into city lots, this self-guided tour showcases the creativity, resilience, and beauty of Okanagan gardens - while supporting an important local cause. This year's tour highlights eight unique gardens, each with its own story and style. Guests will visit: • A 3-acre garden-meets-farm, with “adopted” trees and rescued plants from across the community • A tiered country garden, brimming with fruit trees, vegetable beds, and vibrant blooms • A whimsical garden featuring its very own Hobbit House-turned-root-cellar, where nearly everything is grown from seed • A fire-smart sanctuary, accented with stunning sculptures and panoramic lake views • A community-minded garden, where produce is grown for neighbours and pollinators are always welcome • A tribute garden to Ukraine, glowing with blue and yellow blooms that honour shared agricultural roots • A xeriscape meadow in the front, with a permaculture-designed haven of edibles and florals in the back • A heritage estate garden, steeped in character and charm What sets the Flower Power Garden Tour apart is not just the gardens themselves, but the experience within them. Attendees will enjoy live demonstrations, local artisan vendors, tastings, and the opportunity to connect directly with gardening experts.
This year’s featured experts include:
• Sam Ulasy of Margaret Valley Landscaping, demonstrating how to create lush, eye-catching patio planters
• Sigrie Kendrick of the Okanagan Xeriscape Association, offering expert guidance on sustainable, water-wise garden design
• Jeanette Merrick, showcasing practical tree pruning techniques and sharing her deep knowledge of tree care and maintenance
• The Okanagan Master Gardeners, on hand with answers, plant wisdom and tricks for tackling common (and uncommon) garden challenges
• Brenda Richardson bringing her expertise in landscape composition and design to help guests create cohesive, beautiful outdoor spaces
• And special guest Ken Salvail, the Grower Coach – a beloved local horticulturalist with decades of experience, ready to answer all your gardening questions, big or small Flower Power Garden Tour is not only a celebration of gardens, but also of community giving. Partial proceeds from the event benefit the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre of Kelowna, supporting children and youth who have experienced abuse or trauma.
