Kamloops Golf and Country Club Pro Shop Helps Golfers Get in the Game

Kamloops Golf & Country Club

When it comes to your golf needs, the Kamloops Golf and Country Club’s pro shop has you covered. The recently renovated pro shop is a one-stop, full-service centre for golfers of all skill levels, offering clubs, apparel and all the accessories a player needs to get in the game.

With prices competitive with larger golf accessory retail outlets, the club’s pro shop not only has all the products a golfer needs, but also the expertise to match a player with the right equipment.

According to Kamloops Golf Club’s General Manager Alec Hubert, properly sized clubs are important and the shop’s staff and club pros can help with that too.

“We provide a very high level of service,” says Hubert, one of four golf pros on staff at the KGCC. “We are able to look at what equipment people have and tell them what they need.”

Golf lessons are also available through the pro shop. The club hosts special product promotions throughout the year, as well as special club fitting days. Hubert says there is often a perception that a smaller retail outlet like a golf club’s pro shop charges higher prices. But he says his club has good relationships with suppliers and can match or beat retail prices elsewhere. And it also has a well-trained staff that knows the game and can help players succeed with the right equipment.

The pro shop is just one of the amenities at the KGCC, which opened in 1914 and is the oldest, and one of the largest, of the eight golf clubs in Kamloops.

With 500 members, the semi-private club also welcomes the public to play on its well-manicured greens and fairways and often hosts provincial tournaments on its championship course.

In June, the KGCC will host the PGA of B.C. Assistants’ and Seniors’ Championship, which will bring 99 top provincial golfers to Kamloops to play.

Hosting the 2021 championship is another sign of how busy the course has been despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Golf is one of the few activities that escaped relatively unscathed by the harsh impact of restrictions brought about by the pandemic.

Hubert says he cannot remember seeing the golf industry as busy as it is right now.

“It’s on fire,” he says. “Extremely busy.”

Being an outdoor activity that lends itself naturally to physical distancing, Hubert said golf has given players a sense of normalcy in an otherwise abnormal time.

So, whether it’s a great course that will challenge all golfers, a pro shop that has everything you need to make the game enjoyable and help you succeed, or the experience and expertise of its staff, the Kamloops Golf and Country Club welcomes you and invites you to play a round.
