Kelowna’s Catelowna Cat Cafe is a cozy cafe in downtown Kelowna opening on June 22. They will serve delicious drinks and snacks for humans and provide a unique opportunity to mingle with a furry friend of the feline persuasion.

“Our place will appeal to all cat lovers and those that wish they had a cat but can’t. With so many condos going up that are not pet friendly, or if they have a partner who's allergic to cats and miss having a cat cuddle, our café is the perfect place," owner Ashley Karnes says.

The Catelowna Cat Cafe is more than just a great spot to sip coffee. It's also a sanctuary for cats in need of adoption. Partnering with Kelowna Kitten Rescue, the Prince George Humane Society, and SOS Prairie Rescue, Catelowna gives cats a second chance at finding a loving home. Every cat available for adoption has had an extensive health check, been spayed/neutered, and is up to date on all vaccinations.

If you're interested in adopting, Catelowna makes the adoption process easy. Come in, meet the cats, and if you find one (or two) you just can't live without, simply fill out an application adoption form. The form will then be sent to the rescue centre that owns the kitty, and from there, the centre will reach out to you directly. There is a small fee to drop in and meet the cats in the cat lounge - but knowing that a portion of that will go back to the feeding and care of the rescued cats, and 100% of an adoption fee is funnelled back to the rescue centres is just the icing on the cake.

While you might be tempted to bring your furry friend along, unfortunately, that's not an option, as the cafe team must protect their other cats' health and safety.

Ashley's invitation is open to everyone: "Even if you don't want to adopt, it's a great place to hang out and relax and get calming cat vibes. This concept started in 1998 in Taiwan and I’m thrilled to be bringing this space to Kelowna, BC."

Snacks, baked goods, and a selection of sandwiches and salads from local vendors are available. Of course, it wouldn't be a proper cafe without coffee and tea. It's the perfect setting for a cozy afternoon with feline companions and delicious treats.
