As the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra prepares for another exciting season, anticipation is building for some standout performances that lie ahead. If you've never been to the symphony, you are missing out on a truly magical experience. The Kamloops Symphony Orchestra is a beautiful introduction to the world of classical music, with various programs and performances catering to all tastes.

"The Kamloops Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1976 and has been performing for enthusiastic audiences ever since," says Ryan Noakes, KSO Marketing Coordinator.

Now in its 47th year of operation, the Kamloops Symphony is a professional orchestra composed of musicians from Kamloops, Greater Vancouver, and as far away as Manitoba. The orchestra performs a wide variety of traditional and contemporary orchestral repertoire from September to May every year.

Whether you're already a classical music aficionado or an aspiring fan, the program planned for 2023-2024 will not disappoint. From an evening dedicated to the epic sounds of Pink Floyd to music from the classic ballet Romeo and Juliet, there is no shortage of excitement on the horizon. One of the season's most highly anticipated events will be the presentation of “Light the Night: A Symphonic Graphic Novel”. This features a combination of giant images and music telling the story of Alma Mahler (the incredibly talented and tragically overlooked wife of composer Gustav Mahler). Noakes continues, “This is probably the most unique concert in the upcoming season, and definitely not something many people would expect an orchestra to perform!”

There's nothing quite like being swept away by the grandeur and elegance of a full orchestra of talented musicians. Ryan says, "If you enjoy the big sweeping cinematic, orchestral music you hear in movies, you should definitely come check it out in a live setting. Imagine being in the same room as the musicians and hearing them perform live."

Experience the magic of live music with the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra at Sagebrush Theater. The season's first concert is Rhapsody in Blue on Saturday, September 23, at 2 and 7:30 pm. Single tickets are available with varying prices for Under 19, Adults, and Seniors. This concert is part of their Season’s Tickets package available by subscription. The guest artist for this concert, Daniel Clarke-Bouchard, will also perform a solo piano recital the night before, on Friday, September 22 in the Sagebrush Theatre.
