Generosity in Action: iNFOTEL MULTIMEDIA Participates in Community Giving

We are committed to supporting local non-profits and the volunteers who donate their valuable time to community non-profits. During these unusual times, fundraising efforts have been challenging, yet the need for non-profit services continues to increase.

iNFOTEL MULTIMEDIA has donated $16,425 worth of advertising and services to six separate charities;

  • The Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association
  • South Okanagan Women in Need Society
  • Vernon SPCA
  • Soup Sisters
  • Kalamalka Starfish Society Vernon
  • Canadian Mental Health Assoc - Kelowna Branch

THE KAMLOOPS THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION

Since 1988, the goal of this non-profit charitable organization has been to create opportunities for personal growth, healing, and connection through a shared experience with horses. Their programs include therapeutic riding for individuals with physical and psychological disabilities and equine-assisted lessons for youth at risk in the community. KTRA operates with a few staff members under the direction of a volunteer board of directors and the support of more than 70 volunteers.

There are several ways to contribute to KTRA in support of their therapy work and the horses that make this experience possible. To contribute your time as a volunteer, please contact them directly through their website. Donations are accepted in support of riding classes or if you prefer, co-parent one of their therapy horses to help cover the costs of food and vet care.

SOUTH OKANAGAN WOMEN IN NEED SOCIETY

SOWINS programs and services provide shelter, safety and support to individuals who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing violence or abuse in the South Okanagan. Their service area covers Summerland to Osoyoos and Naramata to Keremeos. SOWINS was established in 1981 and is a federally registered charity and incorporated B.C. society governed by a volunteer board and an executive director who oversees the staff of more than 60 individuals. This compassionate group is dedicated to fostering a society where women and children can live free from violence and abuse. They strongly believe every person is an individual deserving respect and dignity and that abuse is a societal issue, not a private one, and we all have a collective responsibility to end community violence.

SOWINS has a 24-hour crisis line: 1-800-814-2033, as the first point of contact for individuals seeking help and information.

KALAMALKA STARFISH SOCIETY VERNON

“Changing childhood hunger starts with one child at a time.”
“Changing childhood hunger starts with one child at a time.”

The Starfish Pack Program began in response to children who went to school hungry and was later extended to cover weekend meals. Every week, volunteers fill backpacks with nutritious food then deliver them to schools for students to take home on the weekends. Food items often include cereal, pasta, bagels, canned meat, soup, fresh fruit and granola bars. It costs approximately $600 to fill a backpack for a student for the school year ($16 - $18 per week) and 100% of donations go towards purchasing backpacks and menu items. Community members can support the Starfish Pack Program by volunteering their time to fill and deliver star packs or by donating to this worthy cause. Infotel Multimedia is proud to be included on their Partners page.

CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOC - KELOWNA BRANCH

CMHA Kelowna offers programs and services for youth and families, housing, wellness, and virtual counselling services. Founded in 1956, their goal is to promote mental health and provide support for families and individuals through programs that promote positive mental health, support and recovery and champion the barriers that prevent people from thriving. The association accomplishes these goals through building homes, building lives and building community. CMHA Kelowna would not be sustainable without dedicated volunteers and donations. They offer education and training in suicide prevention, and community education to provide opportunities for increased mental health literacy and skills. CMHA Kelowna has been a powerful support for those affected adversely by our current COVID situation.
