Need to shake off the cabin fever from COVID-19 isolation? This weekend, you’ll be able to do that on a zip line hundreds of feet above the ground.

While other businesses are shuttering because of the global pandemic, ZipZone in Peachland will open up on April 18.

In a media release, the business says it will exceed safety recommendations set by the World Health Organization and WorkSafe B.C. Staff and visitors will be subjected to temperature checks prior to entering the park. Once inside, visitors must wash their hands and will tour the grounds in smaller groups, led by a guide wearing a mask, bandana or face shield. Hand sanitizer stations will be put around the park, and social distancing measures will be maintained.

Guests are discouraged from entering the downtown core of Peachland due to the town's large population of elderly residents, the release stated.

“We know that opening our park may be controversial to some but getting out into the sunshine is the most healthful thing that people can do right now, and we’re here to help,” ZipZone president Kevin Bennett says in the media release. “(COVID-19) is not going to suddenly disappear in a few weeks, it is here for good, and what we have to do is find a way to live with it safely.”

Visit the ZipZone website for more information.
