Yukon car thief busted in Vernon

A 33-year-old Whitehorse man was arrested early Saturday morning within minutes of stealing a vehicle.

The man broke into a compound of a commercial property in the 2800 block of 48 Avenue at about 5:55 a.m. and stole a vehicle., according to an RCMP media release.

A security guard alerted the RCMP who nabbed the man on 27 Street about five minutes later.

After a brief foot chase he was arrested without further incident.

The Yukon resident faces charges of break and enter, mischief, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and driving while prohibited.
