The City of West Kelowna wishes everyone happy holidays and reminds the public of the upcoming office closures and the services that will continue to be provided throughout the winter break.

City Hall will be closed from 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, through 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 3. Administrative offices for Operations on Elliott Road, Utilities on Bartley Road and West Kelowna Fire Rescue at 2708 Ollala Road will also be closed. Essential services will still be provided however and the public can call 778-797-1000 at any time over the holidays. Essential services include cemetery, drainage, sewer and water emergencies, fire and rescue, policing, and roads maintenance.

Curbside collection of waste and recycling will continue on the normal schedule over the holidays. Please see the Living Greener Calendar at www.westkelownacity.ca/wastemanagement to determine dates for collection of garbage and recycling. The Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre on Asquith Road will be closed Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25 and New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1. The centre is open regular hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. on December 23, 24 and 26, 30 and 31 and January 2. Christmas trees can be dropped off at the centre for free; please ensure tinsel, lights and decorations are removed. Strings of old Christmas lights must be taken to the Boucherie Bottle Depot at 2711 Kyle Road or Planet Earth Recycling at 1400 Industrial Road. For a list of recyclables accepted in curbside bins and those materials that must be taken to depots, and to find the depot nearest you, please visit www.westkelownacity.ca/recyclingguide.

Several recreational programs will also be running at various times and days throughout the holidays at facilities including Jim Lind Arena, Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre, Royal LePage Place and Webber Road Community Centre.
