B.C. Parks is upgrading its website for booking camp spots this year but people will have to wait a few more days to see what it looks like and even longer before they can register and book a campsite.
A news release from B.C. Parks last week invites people to participate in the redesign but, at this point, all they can do is register and fill out a questionnaire or sign in to be part of a future focus group.
“As this is a new booking system, accounts from Discover Camping will not transfer to the new system,” states a notice on the B.C. Parks website. “All visitors will be able to visit the new site one week ahead of reservations opening, on March 15, to create their new account, set up account details and booking preferences, and learn to navigate the new system.”
The new site is scheduled to be accessible on Feb. 14 and to go live for reservations on March 21. Individual sites can be booked two months in advance. Group site reservations open up March 24.
“B.C. Parks is responding to visitor feedback with an enhanced approach to service design and delivery, including a new camping reservation service,” it says on the website.
Key changes to the booking site include more flexible search options, more photos of campsites along with maps, calendars and lists of available sites.

B.C. Parks has more than 10,000 reservable sites, ranging from day-use passes, parking permits and campsites, to backcountry permits, picnic shelters, backcountry cabins and a yurt, the news release says.
