It looks like the only place in the Okanagan and Kamloops to experience snow this holiday season will be on the ski hills.

Luckily, mother nature has at least answered the wish lists of local skiers with new snow on the mountains.

In the Kelowna area, Big White Ski Resort the Alpine T-bar and Powder Chair are now open and, thanks to a fresh layer of powder, the Gem Lake Express Lift will open Friday, Dec. 22.

“Santa and Mother Nature are clearly in cahoots,” the resort posted to its Facebook page. “Get ready to explore more lifts, more runs and more terrain.”

SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon has also been gifted with a fresh layer of snow.

As of Friday, Dec. 22, the resort will be opening its Silverwoods Chair. The Gondola will also be operating for night skiing, according to the resort’s Facebook page.

Night skiing will also be readily available over the holiday period, with slopes open from Boxing Day to Dec. 30.

Near Penticton, Apex Mountain Resort is open and operating with limited terrain.

The Stocks Chair, Magic Carpet and T-Bar remain open and lift tickets are on offer at a 50% discount.

Santa will also be making an appearance and handing out gifts on Christmas Eve during the torch light parade.

Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops has been graced with 21 cm of snow over the past week.

As a result, most of the lifts and a good portion of the trails have been able to open.

The resort will also be hosting a festive Skiing With Santa day on Friday, Dec. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the base of the Sunburst Express chairlift, Santa will be waiting to catch a few laps with fellow skiers down the resorts green runs.
