Interior Health is once again closing the emergency room in Clearwater overnight tonight.
From 6 p.m. today, June 8, until 7 a.m. tomorrow, residents who need emergency care are advised to call 9-1-1, or go to the ER at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, roughly an hour-and-a-half away.
Over the past few months, the emergency room at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital has been closed overnight 10 times.

Interior Health said in a media release the emergency department is closing “due to unforeseen limited staffing availability.” It also comes at a time Royal Inland Hospital is also going through low staffing issues.

Tonight’s closure will be the 11th since April 3.
