The prime contractor that built a Penticton hotel has received a $2,500 fine from WorkSafe B.C.

Mundi Onward Enterprises Inc. was the prime contractor at the four-storey Fairfield Inn and Suites, 602 Eckhardt Ave., in Penticton when Worksafe B.C. made an inspection and found a subcontractor had dismantling a scaffolding system without fall protection in place.

In a report posted to its website, WorkSafe B.C. said the action exposed workers to potential falls of up to 12.8 metres.

A follow-up inspection discovered fall protection anchors had not been installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

WorkSafe B.C. noted in the report other infractions related to guardrails, handrails and inspections.

Considered a high-risk violation, Worksafe B.C. said Mundi Onward Enterprises Inc. failed to establish and maintain a system of regulatory compliance, fining the company $2,500 on June 8, 2020.
