A woman is currently in Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries after a crash ripped the car she was driving in two on Lakeshore Road yesterday afternoon.
"On June 18 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Kelowna RCMP was called to the 4000 block of Lakeshore Road near Crighton Road for a single vehicle collision. A Pontiac car struck a telephone pole, the force of the collision caused the passenger car to separate," states an RCMP news release.
The driver of the vehicle and sole occupant was transported to the hospital, and the area was closed to traffic for several hours.
Kelowna RCMP are investigating the incident.
“The investigation, which is being led by the Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section, is still ongoing at this time,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in the release. “Preliminary findings at the scene suggest that speed was likely a factor in the crash.”
