LAKE COUNTRY – A woman was killed when her vehicle crashed on Highway 97 between Lake Country and Vernon last night.
RCMP say at about 6:36 p.m., Jan. 23, the woman was northbound on Highway 97 when her vehicle left the road, plunged down a steep embankment and came to rest on Crystal Water Road below the highway.
The woman was the only one in the grey 1997 Cadillac Seville 4-door sedan and she died at the scene, according to a RCMP media release.
Police say they have identified the woman and are working to notify her family.
“Our investigators believe that there are potentially other motorists who may have witnessed this crash and have not yet come forward to police,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in the release. “The RCMP are urging all witnesses to come forward with any information.”
Police are releasing few details about the crash, including the woman’s identity, as the members of RCMP Integrated Collision Analyst and Reconstructionist Services and the B.C. Coroners Service investigate.
