SUMMERLAND - A woman died in hospital following a head-on collision on Highway 97 near Summerland last night.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a media release the crash took place around 10:18 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 23, on Highway 97 near Arkell Road in the Trout Creek area.
Moskaluk says a southbound 2017 GMC Acadian driven by a 72 year-old man crossed the centreline striking a 2012 Jeep Patriot driven by a 25-year-old woman. A 29-year-old woman was a passenger in the Jeep.
All three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries where the 29-year-old passenger in the Jeep was pronounced deceased. Her identity has not been released.
RCMP South Okanagan Traffic Services and B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the cause of the collision.
Drive B.C. reported the highway was closed for several hours last night as a result of the crash.
