Woman hospitalized after violent attack in Sicamous

SICAMOUS - A Sicamous woman is in hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries after being attacked early this morning.

A 26-year-old male suspect is in police custody, according to an RCMP media release

RCMP say officers responded to a report of a man assaulting a woman in an apartment building on Riverside Avenue in Sicamous at around 6:20 a.m. today, April 2.

Police called Emergency Health Services to provide medical care and take her to hospital.

The suspect was arrested nearby a short time later.

RCMP say the suspect and the victim know each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sicamous RCMP Detachment at 250-836-2878, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
