Woman fled from police in stolen Jeep damaging two cop cars in Kamloops

What started out as a wellness check in Kamloops ended with a woman arrested after she fled from police.

Kamloops RCMP officers were called about an unresponsive woman in the front seat of a strangely parked Jeep with the driver door open and a broken rear passenger window in the 800-block of Desmond Avenue around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, according to a press release from police.

While officers were on their way to the scene the Jeep left.

“As part of the investigation, police discovered the Jeep had been reported as stolen from 100 Mile House earlier this month,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. “Soon after, a Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officer located the vehicle in Heffley Creek and unsuccessfully attempted a traffic stop, during which the Jeep struck a police cruiser.”

Barriere RCMP and the Southeast District RCMP Highway Patrol managed to stop the driver after another crash with a police vehicle.

No officers were injured and the damage to police vehicles was minor. A woman was arrested without incident and held for a bail hearing.

Cory Leah Maack, 45, from 100 Mile House was arrested and charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited.

Maack was released on Feb. 24 and has a court appearance for March 24.

Anyone who witnessed or has information, including dash camera footage that may be related to this investigation, has been asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2025-5072.
