Woman dead after fall from balcony in downtown Kelowna

RCMP and the coroners service are investigating after a woman died after a fall from a balcony in Kelowna's downtown this morning.

Police responded to a report of a woman falling from a balcony in the 1100 block of Sunset Drive near Okanagan Lake in the city's downtown at around 10 a.m. today, Oct. 25, according to an RCMP press release.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are in the beginning of the process of conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of this tragedy, but at this time we do not believe criminality is involved,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy, Kelowna RCMP spokesperson, said in the release.

B.C. Coroners Service is investigating to to determine the exact cause of her death.

RCMP didn't say which building on Sunset Drive the woman fell from and say no further information will be released at this time.
