Woman beaten, robbed in downtown Kelowna

July 17, 2020 - 3:10 PM

Three suspects were arrested after a woman was allegedly beaten and robbed Wednesday night in downtown Kelowna.

On July 15, at roughly 11:45 p.m., a group of people was approached by an employee in the parking lot of a business in the 200 block of Bernard Avenue, according to an RCMP media release. The employee asked them to leave the property, which subsequently lead to a verbal confrontation.

A member of the group allegedly hit the 28-year-old employee several times, before they stole items from the woman and left the scene in a black SUV.

A 35-year-old Ontario man, a 26-year-old Ontario woman and a 28-year old Ontario woman have been arrested in connection with the assault. They have since been released from custody for future court dates, RCMP said. The full findings of the police investigation will be submitted to B.C. Prosecution Service for review and charge assessment.

The stolen items were returned to the employee, who received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
