KAMLOOPS - The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team finished the round robin portion of the “West Coast Classic” with a defeat.

The WolfPack fell in straight sets to the University of Alberta Pandas.  The scores on Saturday, Oct. 15 were 25-18,25-21,25-17. TRU finishes the round robin with a record of one win and two defeats.

Head coach Chad Grimm says there were a lot of positives: “I was able to put five first year players on the floor at the same time. There were a lot of good things and at times we were consistent. But we gave up too many runs. The girls did a good job and it was a good experience for them.”

Grimm noted that Sarah Dobinson (first year, outside hitter, Whitby, Ont.) got to see her first court time in almost a month after recovering from sickness.

The WolfPack are set to take on MacEwan Univerity Griffins in a positioning match at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct.15 at UBC.

TRU opens their 2016-17 Canada West regular season on Friday, Oct. 28 on the Warner Rentals court at the Tournament Capital Centre. Their opponents will be the Alberta Pandas. Game time is 6 p.m.
