WolfPack split last doubleheader of the fall

KAMLOOPS – In the final weekend of games before going inside for the winter, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team was taking on the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. The two teams split the games as the ‘Pack lost game one by a score of 9-3 and they won game two, 7-2.

Tyler Hodder (Fort McMurray, AB) started game one on the mound for the WolfPack. He threw three and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks. Seven of his eleven outs were strikeouts. Scott Wood (Stratford, ONT) came into the game in relief and threw two and 2/3, allowing two runs (zero earned) on four hits and two walks. He struck out two. Duncan Elgert (Calgary, AB) threw only a 1/3 of an inning as he allowed three runs on three hits and one walk. Aaron Lemione (Winnipeg, MB) threw in the seventh inning but didn’t record an out. He allowed two hits. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw two and 1/3 innings, allowing just one walk.

Isiah McDonald (Grand Forks, BC) led the offense in game one as he went 2-4 with a RBI triple, two stolen bases, a run scored and a walk. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) went 2-5 with a RBI single.

Dillon Ferguson (Kirkland, WA) got the nod to start game two. After struggling lately, Ferguson made a statement in his last outing of the fall as he threw four perfect innings, striking out eight batters. Joe Siniscalchi (Coquitlam, BC) threw two innings, allowing one run on one hit and two walks. He struck out two batters. Saylor Gray (White Rock, BC) also threw two innings, allowing just two hits and a walk. Lucas Colgan (Kamloops, BC) threw one perfect inning.

In game two, the WolfPack took advantage of poor pitching from the Cascades. Rookie Shaun Hill (High Level, AB) led the offense as he went 1-2 with three RBIs. Ryan Normandeau (Calgary, AB) went 1-2 with a walk and a run scored. Nick Peters (Maple Ridge, BC), Kyron Smith (Maple Ridge, BC) and Duncan Elgert all collected a walk and scored a run each.

The WolfPack are done with games against other opponents for the fall after the split today. They will still be outside as they’ll be playing their own World Series next weekend.
