Winter weather weekend events in Penticton and the South Okanagan

PENTICTON - With wintery weather predicted, the most welcome weekend activities will most likely have an indoor theme as February gets underway.

The musical genius of Ben Waters comes to the Dream Cafe. The United Kingdom’s well known piano player has worked with the Rolling Stones, Ray Davies, Chuck Berry, Shakin’ Stevens and Jerry Lee Lewis, just to name a few.

Waters has a four evening engagement at the Dream, located at 97 Front Street in Penticton. Show starts at 8 p.m. and runs from Wednesday, Feb. 1 to Saturday, Feb. 4. Cost is $55. For more information, call The Dream Cafe at 250-490-9012.

Many Hats Theatre Company entertains with a 10th anniversary production of Maggie’s Getting Married. The Norm Foster classic originally ran in 2008. Ed Schnieder directs. Showtime is 8 p.m. at the Many Hats Theatre Company Cannery Stage at 1475 Fairview Road in Penticton. Showtimes are 8 p.m. for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances, (Feb. 2 to Feb. 4) with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. For more information see the Many Hats web page.

The Snowed in Comedy Tour makes its way to the Cleland Community Theatre at 325 Power Street in Penticton on Friday, Feb. 3 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. One of the largest and most successful comedy tours in Canada, the cast includes Dan Quinn, Paul Myrehaug and five time Canadian Comedian of the year nominee, Pete Zedlacher. Tickets can be purchased at the Community Centre, or at the comedy tour website.

There’s a birthday party to celebrate Bob Marley at the Mule on Martin on Saturday, Feb. 4 starting at 9 p.m. Music by The Steadies. Tickets are available at the Mule, or online,  at $10 and $15.

The Catastrophist plays from 6 to 8 p.m. a the Cannery Brewing Company at 198 Ellis Street in Penticton on Sunday, Feb. 5. There is no cover, so bring a friend and come and support local live music. For more information, see the Cannery Brewing web page.
