KELOWNA - The winner of a $16 million lotto ticket sold in Kelowna first thought he had won $16,000.

Kelowna resident Clifford Britch says he and his wife bought the ticket at Orchard Park Mall Nov. 22.

“The clerk at the kiosk said, ‘you didn’t win $16,000…you won $16 million."

A media release from BCLC says the couple will share their prize money with their family, including children and grandchildren.

"They intend to do some travelling and go on a cruise following the Christmas holidays," the release says.

“We have a close knit family,” Britch says. “With Christmas around the corner, this lottery win is icing on the cake for me!”

Britch was in Vancvouver today, Dec. 6, where he was presented with the cheque.

The total amount won is more than $16.7 million for the winning Lotto 6/49 numbers announced on Nov. 23.
