Wind warning issued for South Thompson, Okanagan this morning

Environment Canada says the South Thompson and Okanagan regions should expect strong wind gusts this morning, Jan. 13, 2021.

Environment Canada is warning residents of the South Thompson and Okanagan valleys to hang onto their hats, and anything else that might blow away this morning.

The weather agency issued a weather statement for both regions early today, Jan. 13, warning of strong winds as a low pressure system moves through the interior of the province.

Wind gusts of 50 to 70 km/h can be expected in the South, Central and North Okanagan as well as in the South Thompson this morning.

The winds could be strong enough to toss loose objects and cause injury or damage.

Winds are expected to ease this afternoon.

A snowfall warning remains in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass and for the Yellowhead Highway, Téte Jaune Cache to the Alberta border.

Road conditions can be monitored at Drive BC.
