UPDATE: Wildfire near Kelowna grows to 15 hectares

A wildfire near Kelowna that was initially reported to be three hectares in size has grown to 15 hectares.

The wildfire near Little White Mountain was discovered yesterday, Sept. 15, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service, and is classified as out of control.

The fire is located roughly 20 kilometres southeast of Kelowna outside of Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park, fire information officer Taylor MacDonald said. No structures are being threatened.

Roughly 18 firefighters are on site today, Sept. 16, with the support for two helicopters.

No word yet from the wildfire service as to the cause of the fire.
