A small wildfire in the area of the Tolko Industries Heffley Creek mill near Kamloops is under control.
B.C. Wildfire fire information officer Kyla Fraser says the fire, which was estimated to be around 0.2 hectares in size, burned about one and a half kilometres south of Heffley Creek.
Three wildfire personnel assisted five firefighters from Kamloops Fire Rescue to put out the blaze which she says is believed to be human-caused.
Chris Downey, a communications advisor with Tolko Industries, doesn't believe it affected company operations.
“The plant manager… he actually said it was a small fire near the mill, but it was on private land, not actually mill property,” Downey says.
