WILD WEDNESDAY: Why it's so important to manage your fruit trees, garbage at this time of year

KAMLOOPS - It's the time of year where bears are stocking up before they hibernate, and a video from WildSafe B.C. shows the transformation from spring bear to winter bear.

Hyperphagia is the period when bears are trying to pack on as much body fat as possible, and WildSafe says bears need to gain roughly 30 per cent of their normal weight to make it through the winter.

It's critical for people to manage fruit trees, garbage and other attractants at this time of year in order to not attract bears into our spaces, WildSafe says.
