WILD WEDNESDAY: Meet the Columbian ground squirrel

In this week's episode of Wild Wednesday the Columbian ground squirrel is highlighted by Wild Safe B.C. for the important role they play in the ecosystem — especially as food for predators such as bears and coyotes.

These medium-sized rodents are typically found in the southeastern portion of the province and have a big appetite for fresh greens.

WildSafe B.C. says their appetites and burrowing activities can pose as a problem for farmers, ranchers and homeowners.
