WILD WEDNESDAY: It's breeding season for B.C.'s black bear

Breeding season for black bears throughout B.C. occurs in late May and June.

That means now is the time you can expect to see these large animals showing up in unusual places as they travel looking for a mate, WildSafeBC says in a post to Facebook.

Because bears are travelling more during these months, WildSafeBC reminds the public to be prepared to see these animals in unexpected places.

They are constantly rubbing themselves onto trees to leave their scent for other bears,

Always make sure to give these animals plenty of room.

For more on bear safety visit WildSafeBC’s website.

Check out the footage below to view how two bears rub their scent on trees.
