Where to make your own unique Christmas gifts in Kamloops, Okanagan

While it’s always fun to shop for unique gifts and support local artists, the same can be said for creating your own masterpieces. There are several opportunities to get your hands covered with clay, glitter and paint in Kamloops and the Okanagan this weekend.

You can get in the Christmas spirit making a 22” garden gnome at a workshop in Penticton. All the paint and decorations are provided along with a string of lights. There will be light refreshments provided with wine available by donation. All ages are welcome.

Located at the Enchanted Florist at #103-1652 Fairview Road, the Winter Gnome Workshop starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26. Go here for tickets.

People in the Kelowna area have an opportunity to design personalized wood signs and home décor at a family-friendly studio. Arrive at the studio, choose your project, design and colours, and get creative. Each person attending creates their own project while kids ages 6 and under can create one project with a parent.

Located at Rustic Chalk Décor at 542 Lawrence Avenue, the next Saturday Crafternoon runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25. Go here to reserve your spot.

There is an opportunity for couples to create with clay together in Vernon. In a three-hour workshop couple can make individual clay projects that will fit together, while enjoying a glass of wine, beer or a mocktail. Firing and glazing are done for you and the pieces will be available for pickup in two or three weeks. Participants must be age 19 or older.

Located at the Vernon Community Arts Centre at 2704 Highway 6, Date Night Clay Handbuilding runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. Go here to book your class.

A food hall in Kamloops is hosting a holiday wreath making workshop where participants can grab some food and a beverage and get crafty. The guided project will result in fresh, outdoor wreaths for the season. Participants are asked to bring garden shears or scissors.
