Where and when to commemorate Remembrance Day in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - Remembrance Day is the weekend, and there are a number of ways in Kamloops to remember those who gave their lives to preserve the freedom we enjoy today.

On Saturday, Nov. 10 there will be a Remembrance Day dinner and dance at Columbo Hall located at 814 Lorne St. from 6:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. Tickets are $35, call 250-374-4914 for more information.

The Kamloops Museum and Archives and the Kamloops Chinese Cultural Association will be hosting a special tour of the Cenotaph in Memorial Hill Park from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10. The tour will consist of the history of the Kamloops Cenotaph and Cairn, its 2016 restoration, and the story of Frederick Lee, a Kamloops Rocky Mountain Ranger of the 172nd Battalion who fought and died in the First World War.

The Kamloops Museum will also unveil the first signs installed as part of the Veteran Street Sign project.

The Annual Remembrance Day Ceremony and Parade will take place on Sunday, Nov. 11 starting at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Park. There will be refreshments and sandwiches served at the Kamloops Legion after the service.
