What's the plan for Highland Drive

Highland Road - the only link between Juniper Ridge and Valleyview - is set for reconstruction later this year.

With construction to improve Highland Road between Valleyview Drive and Qu'Appelle Boulevard in Juniper Ridge set for later this year the public will get a chance to see the plans in advance and provide feedback.

The project will involve the widening of Highland Road to three travel lanes – two up and one down – plus construction of a multi-use pathway on the east side of the road. Lighting improvements, a storm drainage system and landscaping will also be completed.

Kristen Meersman, capital projects manager for the city, said Monday the project will be an inconvenience to residents, but is necessary for the long term improvements.

The City of Kamloops has started offering public information sessions on a variety of development projects, and judging from other sessions many people appreciate being given a chance to talk about the plan with city staff before construction actually begins.

The Highland Road project information session will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Valleyview Community Hall, 2250 Park Drive.
