What to do in Kelowna for the first weekend of spring

KELOWNA - Looks like it's time to pack away the toques and heavy jackets for the season: Spring is finally here. While you're enjoying the warm weather and longer days, make sure to check out these fun events around Kelowna this weekend.

Unleash your inner geek during the weekend-long sixth annual Kelowna Fan Experience at various downtown locations. Flaunt your cosplay abilities, compete in video game tournaments, or see a variety of celebrities like voice actor Tara Strong. A full schedule and tickets are available here.

Lake City Bowling on Highway 97 North is getting renovated on April 1 and Big West Wrestling is giving it a big sendoff on March 22. Camaro Cope and Collin Cutler will battle in a Blue Heights brawl in the main of event of this professional wrestling show. Tickets are $10 at the door and the show gets started at 7:30 p.m.

Looking to unwind with an arts project? Head to Paint It Rustic at 2548 Sylvia Lane on March 23 to create a custom wood sign using paints and stencils. The event starts at 12:30 p.m. Grab your tickets here.

If you're not into painting, why not make a spring wreath to honour the arrival of warmer weather? Visit the Vibrant Vine at 3240 Pooley Road on March 23 for a hands-on workshop teaching participants how to create a spring wreath. The workshop starts at 1 p.m. and tickets are available here.

HAVYN was named Urban Artist of the Year at the 2018 Western Canadian Music Awards and she'll be celebrating the release of her new single at Milkcrate Records on March 23. Tickets are $10 at the door, which open at 6:30 p.m.

The Inspired Word Cafe is making a zine and they need your help to put it together. Stop by the Bean Scene Coffee Works at 371 Bernard Avenue on March 24 between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to create a collage of words.

How I Met Your Mother super fans, your moment has come. A trivia night dedicated to the popular sitcom will be held at Creekside Pub and Grill on March 24. Grab your tickets here and head to the event, which starts at 6 p.m.
