KAMLOOPS - Westsyde Road will get a lot of new asphalt this summer and it will be done with a lower price tag than originally thought as well.

The road will see more than 70,000 square metres of concrete surface milled and paved, as well as drainage improvements and replacement of all sanitary, storm, water and surface castings from the Halston Overpass to Franklin Road.

The project will cost $1.6 million, down from the budget of $2.2 million and the engineer’s original estimate of $1.7 million.

The project is set to start mid-August and will take up to four weeks to complete. Work will take place during the day Monday to Saturday, alternating between lane directions, but two-way traffic will be maintained at all times.
