KAMLOOPS – Westsyde Pool is nearly set to re-open after being closed down for emergency repairs two weeks ago.
The pool was shut down Feb. 13 when it was noticed the interior cedar ceiling panels over the pool area had started to sag. Crews have since assessed the damage and temporary repairs are underway. The pool is now expected to re-open Monday, March 9.
It is believed an internal air leak in the building's envelope is behind the sagging roof but crews will be investigating it further to determine a long term solution. The cost of repairs is not yet known.
Westsyde Pool pass holders can continue to access the Canada Games Aquatic Centre during the pool closure. For status updates on the temporary closure of Westsyde Pool you can check the city website or call 250-828-3616 during business hours.
