Westjet to add extra Penticton flight to winter schedule

FILE PHOTO - Penticton passengers deplane from a Westjet flight in Penticton, August 19, 2016. Westjet recently announced the addition of a Friday night flight into Penticton for the coming winter season. The flight will depart Penticton for Calgary on Saturday morning.

PENTICTON - Penticton will become a little more accessible to air travellers this winter following Westjet’s announcement of an additional flight.

The airline has added one more flight per week out of the Penticton Airport to the winter schedule, according to Westjet media representative Robert Palmer.

The flight will arrive in Penticton Friday night at 9:08 p.m. and leave Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. for Calgary, Palmer says in an email, adding it will be an ideal schedule for a number of different segments of the travelling public.

“The westward flight will be convenient for people with second homes in the South Okanagan, for skiers travelling to Apex for the weekend and people taking in winter festivals and other activities," Palmer says in the email. "The eastward flight will allow people to arrive in Calgary before 9 a.m., which means they will be able to take advantage of connections across Canada, into the U.S. and on to sun destinations."

The new flight complements Westjet's existing Penticton schedule of two daily flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and one flight Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

The new flight launches Oct. 28, operating through the winter to the end of April.
