Western Canada Theatre presents BIRD BRAIN

KAMLOOPS - Western Canada Theatre is thrilled to present the WCT/TRU Young Company production of BIRD BRAIN, based on the story Vogelkopf by Albert Wendt, May 21 to 30 at the Pavilion Theatre.

The Young Company provides students graduating from a University Drama program the opportunity to have their first professional theatre experience. Since youth training in professional theatre has always been an important part of WCT’s history, with our beginnings as a Youth Theatre, WCT is very excited to be working with the Young Company on our first production together.

Based on Albert Wendt’s Vogelkopf, Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen creates an inventive and theatrical story about a compassionate woodcutter who finds himself providing the space under his hat as a warm home for orphaned baby birds. A story about tough choices and following your heart, audiences are guaranteed a lighthearted and whimsical experience.

With Robin Nichol directing this silly and imaginative story that young audiences will be sure to love, BIRD BRAIN features the young talent of Brooke Ballam, Allandra Barton, and Jessica Buchanan.

The production is brought to life with Roya Mole’s sound design, Jared Raschke’s set and lighting design, and the fantastic costume designs of WCT’s Head of Wardrobe, Cindy Wiebe.

Join us for the last production of WCT’s 2014/2015 Family Series.

“But… the only thing I have, the only thing that is worth anything to me, is the clear mind I get from these birds. I made a promise to them. And I won’t break it.”
