City of West Kelowna staff is proposing a 4.8 per cent property tax increase for 2020.

In a report that went to West Kelowna city council yesterday, Dec. 10, staff noted that a new “capacity building” process was put into place this year but some of the costs were pushed off to 2020, which will automatically have an impact on taxes.

Staff are projecting 3.5 per cent tax increases each year from 2021 to 2024.

If approved, the 4.8 per cent for 2020 will bring in $35.3 million in revenue from taxes.

A full day has been set aside Monday, Dec. 16, for council to go over the provisional budget in detail so the 4.8 per cent could change. The final budget won't be adopted until the spring.
