West Kelowna taxes expected to climb 23 per cent in next 5 years

West Kelowna property owners are facing tax increases for the next fiver years totalling close to 23 per cent.

The tax increase in 2021 is projected to 4.75 per cent, with at least a 4.5 per cent hike for the following four years through to 2025, according to a report going to West Kelowna city council on Thursday, Dec. 10.

In 2020, the City took in $34.4 million in tax revenue.

That’s projected to grow to $46.2 million in 2025 and maybe more, depending on the will of future councils.

Council will review the proposed budget on Thursday then open it up to public discussion in late January or early February in 2021.

The final tax rate has to be set by May 15.
