There's something brewing in West Kelowna’s most wine saturated neighborhood.

The owners of  Lakesider Brewing are aiming to bring Lakeview Heights its first brewery and they’re asking for area resident support to do so.

In a pitch to neighbours posted on their website, they say they want to offer a family-friendly gathering place that has more than 900 square feet of patio featuring stunning views of vineyards, Okanagan Lake, and sunsets over Mt Boucherie.

“The Lakeview Mall revitalization has been a tremendous success for our community, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. On Jan. 14, 2020, the site development proposal will be presented to the City of West Kelowna Council,” a pitch on their website reads.

“The hearing will include a review of parking availability at Lakeview Mall. Due to city parking regulations, the Lakeview Mall parking lot is considered over-extended, and therefore we will be seeking council approval for a variance of 33 parking spaces, in order to accommodate a brewery for up to 150 patrons.”

As patrons of Lakeview Mall, they believe there is ample parking already.

In addition, peak hours for current businesses at the mall are generally from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, whereas the brewery’s peak hours will be evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

?They ask that neighbours reach out to the City of West Kelowna to indicate their support of the parking variance of 33 spaces at Lakeview Mall by Jan. 13, 2020.
