Two residents of a West Kelowna mobile home were taken to the hospital last night after a fire inside their home.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a mobile home fire at 1880 Old Boucherie Road at roughly 10 p.m., Jan. 29.

Firefighters at the scene determined the two occupants of the home had been able to rescue themselves, according to a press release issued by the fire department.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the home's occupants were sent to Kelowna General Hospital to receive treatment for their burns and smoke inhalation, according to the press release.

The fire department responded with four engines, a command unit and safety officers along with 18 members. The RCMP, B.C. Ambulance and crews with B.C. Hydro and FortisB.C. were also on scene.

That night, firefighters remained on scene for fire watch and the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
