West Kelowna cyclist dies after being hit by vehicle

A West Kelowna cyclist has died after he collided with a SUV this morning.

The West Kelowna RCMP responded to an incident this morning, Aug. 1 at roughly 8 a.m. involving a collision between a cyclist and a small SUV in the 2100 block of Horizon Drive, according to the RCMP in a press release.

"Despite the efforts of first responders, the cyclist, a West Kelowna man in his 60s, died of his injuries," said Sgt. Kevin Duggan, with the Kelowna RCMP, via email. B.C. Ambulance and West Kelowna Fire Rescue were also on scene.

The West Kelowna RCMP is investigating the incident.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or was in the area and has dashcam footage of the collision, and has not yet spoken to police, to contact the West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 and quote file number 2022-47898.
