A West Kelowna acupuncturist has been temporarily barred from treating female patients following a complaint from a client that's spurred an investigation.
According to a Feb. 20 College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC public notice, acupuncturist and traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, Dong Lin isn't allowed to treat female patients and must submit a record of everyone he’s seen that week to the regulator.
The regular says the conditions have been put in place while an investigation is carried out following a complaint.
"(Lin) conducted himself in a manner that demonstrated a lack of professional judgement and respect for patient boundaries," the College says in the public notice.
The public notice doesn’t give details of what the allegations against Lin are but says the public must be protected while an investigation is ongoing.

"The Inquiry Committee panel considered the allegations serious and found that there are some factors that render the alleged conduct likely to recur," the Notice reads.
The regulator says Lin must place a notice in any treatment room saying he's not allowed to treat female patients, and must also display this on any online booking form. His clinic is also subject to random on-site audits by a College inspector.
According to his website, Lin, who goes by the name Peter Lin, has been practicing traditional Chinese medication and acupuncture for more than 30 years and has been registered in BC since 2012. He moved to Canada in 2009 and has been practicing in Kelowna since 2020.
The College notes that the conditions remain in place pending a hearing and none of the allegations have been proven.
